There is a limit to everything, even when the sky is your limit.

It is a good news indeed that our dear Deputy PM spoke of a 10-subject limit for SPM from next year. I do hope that they will go through with this noble idea. It is about time they do something about it.

I have firmly believed that it is not about the quantity, but the wholesomeness of an individual that SPM should reflect. I am not surprised if those who got 14 or 15 A’s and failed to get a scholarship, is a dork who can’t speak fluently during an interview. I’ve met people like this and trust me, you don’t want them to be your doctor if they managed to book-wormed themselves through medical school.

And may the government stick with their PPMSI policy, for the betterment of our Malaysian society.

The value of 1 hour in my working life.

1 hour of lunch break every day, and it was enough to munch all the lovely foods into that hungry stomach. Plus a walk-in-the-freaking-hot-sun for lunch at Wisma Central, or a musical-chair game at level 2 or level 4, or a hole-in-one-in-the-pocket at any of the fancy restaurants.

1 hour of the fastest travel return from my slum home to the workplace. One trip in the early morning, and one in the evening (or night, depending on luck). Cost effective with the use of monthly pass, but a bit troublesome when that fancy touch as you go gard is used. Using cash is a receipt for insanity.

Today, I learned a new 1 hour value: a 1 hour flight trip from Subang to Kerteh at 6.30 am, and another 1 hour return at 6.20 pm. It is now possible to live in the glory of KL and yet attend some meeting at the other side of the peninsula. And be back for a good night sleep.

This is a quote that I overheard in the office.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But the doctor is sooooo handsome, that the apple had to go away.

Now that’s what you will less expect from a corporate, serious environment that I am in. It makes me smile. It makes me wonder if I should rethink my apple-for-diet program. On a serious note, apples are good for health and kids are encouraged to take it as part of their daily meal plan.

But I will not be getting any iPod, iPhone, iWhatever in the near future even if it will keep the doctor away.

The Swine Flu is here. The Health Ministry today confirmed the first case.

This made Malaysia the 36th country to be affected by the virus.

Should we be worry? Yes, we should. Should we panic? No, we shouldn’t. The government is taking, and has taken, the necessary measure to protect public health. Therefore there is no reason to be panic.

Let us pray that this illness shall pass away without any sacrifice in our country.

Yesterday was my dear father’s birthday. We had a brief father-to-son talk on the phone.

The event started off with my mom answering the phone. After the customary updates on all things happening in the family (immediate and extended) she passed the phone to my father. This was, off course, after she commented about the reminder that she sent that morning, and I had to defend on why I purposedly call only in the evening.

I asked my dad what he wanted. Nothing much, he says. My mom earlier said that I should get him a new wallet, since the old one is in dire condition that if it is thrown into a fish pond, all living creature in the pond shall die (in her own words, that is). I jokingly told my dad that if he wishes to have a grandchild, it will be a very long wait. ;) We had a great laugh on that.

It was blissful to talk to my parents this way. I could not imagined doing so when I was in my high school years. Things have changed over the years, it seems. It will not last forever, I know that. But I will try to cherish it as long as it lasts.
